What is a Lube, Oil & Filter Change?

An oil change and filter change is a preventative maintenance service that helps promote maximum vehicle performance for your Porsche. Regular maintenance intervals including lube, oil, and filter changes extend your Porsche life.

Engine oil is responsible for lubricating the working components inside your vehicle’s engine while reducing the amount of friction between them. Because the engine generates a substantial amount of heat, oil acts as a cooling agent as it circulates through the engine.

The oil filter is just that. It filters out the debris and contaminants for clean free-flowing oil.

Why Do I Need a Lube, Oil & Filter Change for my Porsche?

Over time, as oil becomes saturated with contaminants, excess particles are left behind in the engine, where they can form deposits and cause significant wear to the engine. Oversaturated oil loses its lubrication, which will eventually lead to an overworking engine, excess heat, and engine failure. Dirty oil flows more slowly, causing the engine to work harder, leading to increased engine wear.

How Do I Know it’s Time to Change my Porsche’s Oil?

One of the most important aspects of regular car maintenance is getting your oil changed. It’s recommended that you consult your Porsche Owner’s Manual for details on your car’s maintenance schedule, but if you notice any of the following, you should consider bringing your car in for immediate service.

• Check engine or oil change lights come on, typically, one of these lights might come on if your oil levels are too low.
• Smoke comes out of the exhaust, dark smoke can be an indicator of a serious issue with your car besides just the oil, which is why you should have it inspected immediately.
• Engine knocking sound, as your oil becomes old or starts to deplete, the parts in your engine will rub against each other, causing a knocking sound.
• If your Porsche is showing dirty oil when checking the oil, it is time for an oil change. Your engine oil should be amber in color and slightly translucent. Over time, the oil in your engine accumulates debris and particles, which can cause it to appear darker and grittier.
